A Journey Rooted in Love
At the core of transformative change is a compelling story. For Jasmine Hicks, her journey began during her pregnancy when her life took an unexpected turn. After her water broke at just 21 weeks, Jasmine and her husband, Andre, faced an uphill battle. Their experience ignited a passion within her to become a strong advocate for families like hers and led to the establishment of a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering parents of children with special needs.
This blog post will explore their journey, her son Wesley's courageous fight, and how the organization she founded, WIN All Else Fails, serves as a beacon of hope for countless families navigating the challenges of raising children with disabilities.
Jasmine's Journey: A Mother’s Love
Jasmine's incredible story began amid uncertainty. After experiencing the premature rupture of membranes, she faced a long two-month hospitalization. This difficult period tested her strength as she fought for her son's life and future. Against all odds, Wesley was born prematurely at 31 weeks.
Despite being born with a weight of only 4 pounds, Wesley showed immense determination. However, his early arrival brought numerous health issues. He was diagnosed with conditions including Hydrocephalus, Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy and Autism. Each diagnosis presented a new set of challenges affecting his development.
Jasmine's love for her son became a driving force in navigating the obstacles ahead. She discovered that parenting a child with special needs is not only rooted in love but also requires fierce advocacy, endless patience, and the ability to locate the right resources. She has spent countless hours researching local therapies, special education programs, and support networks to ensure Wesley had the best opportunities available.

Turning Adversity into Advocacy
Although Andre and Jasmine encountered significant hardships with Wesley, they have transformed their struggles into motivation for change. Recognizing that many families face similar challenges, statistics indicate that approximately 1 in 6 children has a developmental disability, she founded WIN All Else Fails (WIN).
WIN's mission is to empower parents and caregivers of children with special needs by leveraging generative AI to deliver personalized, accurate, and relevant resources, support services, and information tailored to each child’s unique disabilities, location, and family circumstances. WIN aims to reduce the stress often experienced by families by providing a clear path to necessary resources, social support, and community engagement fostering confidence in navigating complex care systems.
Jasmine’s journey serves as a powerful example: adversity can spark meaningful advocacy and create change that makes a real difference.
The Power of Technology in Support Services
In today’s digital age, Jasmine harnessed technology to make a significant impact. WIN All Else Fails utilizes generative AI to offer personalized resources. This innovation ensures families receive information specifically tailored to their circumstances, streamlining the search for support. Offering these custom solutions eliminates confusion and empowers parents to take action for their children. By fully integrating modern technology, WIN All Else Fails stands out as a progressive organization in the realm of support for families with special needs children.
Building a Legacy of Hope and Resilience
Wesley’s journey has imparted invaluable lessons about inner strength and resilience. Rather than allowing their challenges to define them, Jasmine chooses to view their journey as one filled with hope and determination.
Through WIN All Else Fails, she creates pathways for families to access essential resources, connect with their communities, and stand up for their children. By channeling her experiences into meaningful societal change, she embodies the spirit of empowerment.
As the organization thrives, so too does its influence on the community, providing families with support during their darkest moments and encouraging them to celebrate victories—big or small.
